A community effort to oppose a potential Reckitt expansion that may impact our residential area.
As Zeeland residents, we want to preserve our residential neighborhoods and the character of our community. Zeeland is a great city where residential and industrial land use can co-exist. We are deeply concerned that a significant expansion being considered by Reckitt, and their recent efforts to purchase land within our community, contradicts this balance.
Reckitt, the global consumer goods company that acquired Mead Johnson in 2017, is considering a significant expansion of its Zeeland infant formula manufacturing facility. With approximately 500 employees at its East Main Avenue site, the company has been actively acquiring nearby properties—including a $1.5 million residential purchase and a $3.7 million purchase of Bennett Wood Specialities—to secure more land. Reckitt has also approached Zeeland Public Schools about acquiring the bus garage and Legends baseball field, as well as inquiring about other residentially zoned properties.
As concerned neighbors, we oppose any rezoning that would bring industrial operations closer to our residential community.
This is a community organized site. If you would like to connect with Zeeland City Officials, please do so by following their contact channels via the link below.
